THE FUNCTIONAL APPROACH - BASIS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENTOF URBANIZED TERRITORIES

The scientific article seeks the symbiosis between spatial planning and economic development of urban areas or more precisely - the urban area of large and very large cities. The functional approach reecting the main functional systems - work, living, recreation, service and technical infrastructure, determining the non-transient nature of this approach, was used as a starting point. The development of cities from their formation as a geographical feature with a growing concentration of functions and population over a limited territory to their current state of a complex and dynamic social organism arouses a certain interest for research. Cities require sustainable governance, adequate planning of spatial regulation, functional structure of urbanized areas on the basis of localized and developed economic functions and activities. European cities are home to around 60% of Europe's population, which accounts for around 80% of the EU's Gross Domestic Product. On this basis, European cities must ensure economic prosperity and guarantee their own sustainable development.

The article presents some problems of the protection of the immovable cultural heritage in Bulgaria. The solution of the problems will help for both saving the physical authenticity of the immovable cultural properties but also for a sustainable urban development and a new possibility for the development of cultural tourism.

Targeted scientific and applied research on the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in agriculture reduces costs for farmers, improves soil management and water quality, reduces the use of fertilizers and pesticides, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions, improving biodiversity and creating a healthier environment for farmers. This paper presents the results of research aimed at the application of artificial intelligence to support Bulgarian crop production. Results obtained within the framework of the project BG PLANTNET "Establishment of National Information Network GenBank - Plant genetic resources" and the National Research Program "Smart crop production" are presented. A concept for building an intelligent platform for agricultural process management is presented

Construction has been operating over the past two years under the COVID-19 pandemic experiencing several dificulties in material supply, process management, and contacts. At the same time, digital transformation is also underway. The industry is one of the major employers in the EU, and it is critical for achieving sustainable goals and economic restart. Hence, for success in realization of cited goals, UNESCO notes that engineering "itself must transform to become more innovative, attached and responsible" applies. The Branch also must comply with the adopted Professional Code of Engineers of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations. The new requirements also suppose changes in the preparation of construction specialists complying with the European Charter of specialists. The present article analyses the current issues and the role of construction, organizations, government, and public administration in the EU program whose.
